Tests d'ajustement

Nous proposons des tests qualitatifs et quantitatifs de l'ajustement du visage des respirateurs:

• Tests qualitatifs is used to quickly determine the effectiveness of the face-to-respirator fit. An irritating aerosol is dispensed around the person wearing a reusable style respirator with high-efficiency filters (P100) installed while also wearing a hood over their head. The user is instructed to recite a written passage that allows the facial features to be distorted in all directions, while the tester sprays the aerosol through a small hole in the front of the hood. If the face-to-respirator seal is sufficient, there will be no irritating results. User passes with that style and size of respirator.
  Qualitative testing is available in and around the Halifax area only.

• Tests quantitatifs: is used to determine the quantity of particulates found inside a respirator compared to the amount of particulates outside of the respirator. This is performed by a qualified operator using a specially designed testing device. An adapter with a probe is inserted between the respirator fitting and the filter fitting. The probe is connected to the testing device and, while normal and heavy breathing is performed, the machine calculates the readings.
  For half-mask, full face and SCBA face fits, quantitative fit testing is available at all our branch locations (except Notre Dame) by appointment as well as during service trips when the Scott Safety SCBA technician is doing flow testing and repairs. 
  PLEASE NOTE: We now offer N95 quantitative fit testing at our Dartmouth branch (by appointment) and within Nova Scotia when our SCBA technician is on a service trip. 

N.B. Tous les tests doivent être effectués avec un visage rasé de près, sans poils, duvet ou repousse de barbe (aucune interférence entre la zone d'étanchéité du respirateur et le visage).

En plus des tests de routine mentionnés ci-dessus, les utilisateurs de respirateurs devraient idéalement effectuer des vérifications rapides de l'équipement tels que décrits ici lors de chaque utilisation :

• Vérification rapide de l'équipement: L'utilisateur place le respirateur normalement sur son visage et porte ses mains sur les entrées des filtres. Ensuite, l'utilisateur respire pour déterminer si le joint est adéquat; si le respirateur «s'aplatit» sur le visage, le joint est considéré comme suffisamment bon pour continuer son travail. Si l'utilisateur a l'impression qu'il y a une fuite autour du bord, il doit ajuster le harnais du respirateur et effectuer un nouveau test. Notez bien: il est possible qu'à la fin d'une journée de travail, certains hommes à forte pilosité aient déjà trop de barbe pour obtenir d'une bonne étanchéité lors du test.
